The University of Queensland is located mainly in Brisbane with three campuses in St Lucia, Herston, Ipswich and Gatton.  This university is almost a century old but has some of the most modern buildings and technologies in Australia.  There are about 40,000 students, on whom 8.700 are international students.  The University offers 360 undergraduate and postgraduate courses and is very high ranked among world universities.  UQ is well known for its teaching excellence and research, particularly in bio science, marine research and veterinary science.  It has a Medical School and a Dental School as well.

Intellectually the University of Queensland is the place to be.  Some of the most exciting research is taking place in its many Institutes, research that has implications worldwide.  There is the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, the Institute for Social Science Research, the Queensland Brain Institute and the Sustainable Minerals Institute that looks at sustainable development.

In addition to exciting intellectual pursuits, the University of Queensland takes pride in nurturing the wellbeing of its students.  The International Student Advisers assist students with finding accommodation, establishing banking and insurance, academic English and essay writing, counselling and other services.  There is a fine gym, labs that are open 24/7 with the latest technology and excellent river and road transport links to Brisbane suburbs and the city itself.  Southeast Queensland is one of the fast growing areas of Australia and prides itself on its museums, markets and shopping and arts precincts so students never run out of fun things to do.
