Box Hill Institute is one of Australia’s premier, multipurpose TAFE institutes that prides itself on its ability to deliver a broad range of vocational education and training services. The Institute has been acknowledged as Victoria’s No. 1 TAFE Institute in 2004 and 2005.

The Institute has four main campuses located within easy reach of Melbourne’s central business district. Box Hill Institute boasts a proud record of innovation in teaching and has outstanding facilities.

The Institute’s commitment to provide the best facilities is underpinned by the $19.5m Elgar Development, which was opened in 2005.

Box Hill Institute offers over 400 full-time and part-time courses covering a wide range of subject disciplines and delivery methods, as well as around 300 short courses. All courses provide students with a variety of pathways to employment, promotion and further tertiary study.

Now delivering TAFE degrees in Applied Music, Computer Systems (Networking), Hospitality Management and Biotechnology & Innovation, the Institute has more than 35,000 student enrolments each year with an increasing number coming from overseas.

ELICOS – English Language Centre

Box Hill Institute’s Centre for ELICOS aims to equip students from non-English speaking backgrounds with the English skills required to further develop and utilise their skills and qualifications.
What we do

The Centre for ELICOS delivers a range of English as a Second Language (ESL) programs to both migrant and international students.

Our areas of expertise include:

* English assessments
* ESL programs
* Provision of concurrent study support
* ELICOS (Intensive English Language Courses for Overseas Students).

Migrant students can enrol in one semester full-time English courses. These courses are offered at different levels and their purpose is to prepare students to enter post-secondary education (TAFE or university) or to access the Australian workforce.

International full-fee paying students can enrol in intensive English language classes that are offered at six levels, ranging from elementary to advanced. There are nine intakes each year. The aim of these classes is to prepare students to enter mainstream courses at Box Hill Institute in a variety of areas including business, art and design, hospitality and tourism.
