Welcoming foreign students from many nations, the college is recognised as an international leader in the use of modern technology across the curriculum.

John Paul International College provides Primary and High School Preparation and English Language courses for international students. Upon completion of these courses, students are then provided with a Primary or High School placement.

It is the school’s belief that cultural familiarity will be vital for the ‘global village’ of the coming century. Its students and graduates carry with them a strong foundation of values and a desire to achieve excellence.

Homestay accommodation with local families is organised for international students, to provide them with a caring, supportive environment.

A multitude of cultural and sporting activities are offered to students and the school is regarded as having the most comprehensive music program in Australia.

Students may begin at the start of any term (four terms per year, starting in January, April, July and October).
High School Preparation

Students will be placed in classes according to test results on arrival. To progress to the next class, students must pass an exit test at their current level.

Primary Preparation Course

John Paul College offers all students of non-English speaking backgrounds, aged from 9 to 12 years, an intensive ‘On Arrival’ program which is unique in Australia.

Specially qualified teachers with long experience in teaching young students will give expert intensive tuition in English as a second language, Science and Society, and Maths to prepare children for entry into mainstream classes in grades 4, 5 & 6.

The ‘On Arrival’ program consists of two ten week terms with a mid-course holiday break. Class sizes average no more than 15 students in a specially resourced ESL classroom. Orientation to the local community and to life in Australia will be an integral part of this holistic educational environment.

Assessment of student success will be an ongoing process. All students must satisfy the requirements of Stage 1 before progressing to Stage 2 and entry to John Paul College Primary classes.

This course has been popular with parents who have the opportunity to accompany their child for the duration of their studies in Australia on the new Guardian Visa program. There is a holiday break after passing each class.

Homestay Accommodation

John Paul International College carefully selects and registers Homestay Families. These families often have their own children attending the College. Host families undertake Duty of Care for students living with them.
Homestay students are provided with their own bedroom with a bed, desk, chair and other facilities. All meals are supplied by the Host Family. Upon arrival, students are welcomed at Brisbane Airport by the Homestay Co-ordinator, who provides transport and city orientation.
