Charles Darwin University is the major tertiary education institution in the Northern Territory and is unique in that it offers both higher education and vocational studies.
In addition the University has a full range of postgraduate courses and a strong research focus.
The student population of over 14,000 is made up of local, interstate and a growing number of international students.
Darwin City is the capital of the Northern Territory, with a population of over 120,000 people representing over 60 different nationalities making it the most culturally diverse city in Australia.
The city is modern and young – half of the residents are under thirty – and is well serviced by an international airport and good road links to other capital cities.
Facilities
Students enjoy excellent airconditioned modern facilities at both campuses, including up-to-date computing resources (24-hour access), laboratories, studios, workshops and comprehensive libraries. The CDU Students Union, student clubs and sports associations provide an excellent opportunity to participate in sports and social activities.
Charles Darwin University services
Student residential college, airport pickup, full International student orientation, student counselling, Student Union, and a wide range of cultural and sporting clubs and facilities.
Flexible study pathways
Charles Darwin University offers studies in higher education and VET, which makes us unique in terms of the pathways offered.
For example, you can start your studies at certificate or undergraduate degree level and graduate with a doctorate. You can, of course, exit your studies at any number of points in between.
Our standards are high – as they should be in a world class university – but we also believe in removing barriers between students and their desire to gain qualifications. If you have a will and are committed, the University will work to find a way to make your chosen study path possible.
The University’s approach to education allows students to progress their studies as their needs develop. As well being an excellent provider of individual courses, the University offers students well-mapped flexible pathways between courses and areas of interest.
Charles Darwin University achieves this by having a fully integrated campus that spans all educational activities. We have a higher percentage of students progressing from VET to higher education than any other Australian educational or training facility.ampus
